Year of Enlistment

While there is a very obvious correlation between the year 1918 and a dramatic increase in enlistments, coincident with the coming into force of the Conscription Act of 1917, the trend towards an increase in voluntary enlistments over the course of the first four years of the war suggests that not all of the 1918 enlistments were individuals forced to join the Canadian Expeditionary Force.  Rather, we must anticipate that somewhere on the order of at least 20 of the 47 were more than likely volunteers.
