G.S.W (bullet) left thigh fracture femur upper third not involving hip joint.
Wounded 20-8-18. Wound on post surface mid line just below buttocks. Ant-int sur. wound running obliquely downwards & inwards upper end about 6" below Ant hip____?
Fixed extrusion _ suspension Thomas splint glue to leg. XRay shows fracture through femur below lesser trochantor.

10-2-19 Patient up with crutches , unable to wear

Wounded 20-8-18, dressed about 1/2 hour later 11Can Fd. Amb (20--8-18) No.4 CCCS (20-8-18). Wounds cleaned. Thomas splint. Femoral vein found torn and legatured No.8 Stat. Hosp 22-8-18 resplinted, No.15 Can Gen Hosp 29-8-18.
History: G.S.W. Battle of Somme August 22nd, 1918. Splinter of H.E. Shell, wounding his anterior surface of left thigh and also posterior surface of 1/3 of femur. F.B. removed at C.C.S. and wound excised. Routine treatment in varous hospitals France and England, wounds finally healed February 1919. Admitted to St. Annes' Military Hospital 4-6-19.

Scar stellate, about size of silver dollar just at bottom of Gluteal fold, non-tender-not painful, non-adherent.
