Gun Shot Wound (shrapnel) at Courcelette Sept. 29, 1916. Fracture of metacarpel bones of left hand.
"Wounded on Sept.29, 1916. Went to hospital at Rouen for 3 days then to South Head Hospital at Bristol for 7 weeks then to Manwood on 10.11.16. Wound not healed on arrival at Beenwood. XRay taken at Bristol."
"Present Condition: Wound on back of left hand almost completely healed. Hand ?shorter? and slightly inverted. Little or no movement in fingers especially the middle and ring fingers. Pain on active movement of fingers. Much ___ness around scar."
Heart and lungs ok.

Sept 29, 1916 Shrapnel wound left hand - Present Condition: Wound healed - bony union of metacarpal bones with excessive callus - fingers stiff and movements very limited - apparently from disuse.
