Descriptions of the events in which Phillip Pilon suffered Shell Shock

"On September 1 was at Steenwerk about 9 a.m. when AA gun opened on enemy planes.  Was knocked down, became unsteady.  10 August went in 62 CCS for 2 weeks, was mute on entry, recovered at once with [salt(?)]  Broke down 5 days after rejoining."  4-9-17  from No.4 Stationary Hospital

"He was working on railway construction when enemy shells were falling in the vicinity.  A shell exploded near him and he has since been suffering from shock."  8 sept. 1917  from O.C. 8th Battalion C.R.T.

"During the morning of 11-8-17 at Dickeebusch with railway construction party, shell burst amongst them.  Struck on back, remember nothing more.  No previous attack (headache - general tremor) 16-8-17

"This man was at work with No.3 Coy (8th Battalion, C.R.T.) engaged in railway construction work in a forward area.  Many heavy enemy shells burst around and amongst the men and there were seven casualties in this Coy.  This man was close to the explosion of a heavy shell and suffered intensely from shock.  21/7/17

"Marked tremor of hands much increased.  Stammers badly - looks neurasthenic-choreic movements of head and body.  He had similar trouble about two months ago in 62 CCS.  Has not been right since.  Nerves gave way when he got under shell fire again."
