"Perforating wound upper arm junction of upper and mid, excised, clean healed well.  No deformity or loss of freedom.  Transferred to Canadian Convalescent Hospital, Epsom.  Complains of pain in median area of palm of hand with weakness of thumb, 1st and 2nd fingers.  The T.& T.(through and throught)  wound upper arm is healed.  No waisting of muscles of arm.  Movement of elbow and wrist good.  Cannot fully flex 1st and 2nd fingers or thumb.  Normal response in all muscles.  Burning sensation in area supplied by median nerve.  Heart and lungs normal.  Other systems apparently normal."

"Wounded by shrapnel he states Aug.27, 1918.  While on the Arras sector.  Healed about 3 weeks afterwards, but he had loss of power in his hand."
