Marilda Francoeur
"Marilda" Francoeur probably Emerilda Leclerc-dit-Francoeur (June 12th 1874 - February 26th 1957) resident of Lower-Town in Ottawa, married July 8th 1899 at Notre-Dame Basilica in Ottawa, to Edouard Rochon (May 10th 1869 - March 1922). He was an employee of the postal service and in his spare time rented row-boats on the Rideau River, near the Green Bridges. He would keep a Skating rink on the river during the winter months where young Fleur-de-Mai would dazzle passers-by with her artistic pirouettes and beauty. This is one of the rare frontal photos of "Marilda" since she had lost her left eye in her childhood. |
