"It doesn't take the ground crew long to get to work on one of the Halifax bombers used by the RCAF group in bomber command once the big bombers return to their base after an operation over Germany.  Swarms of skilled tradesmen clammer over the machine, checking everything to make sure it will be serviceable when called upon again.  Regular checks are made on each aircraft and none leaves on an operation unless it is fully serviceable." 408 Squadron, August 10, 1943
