The top photographs were taken by Michel Leprêtre of
Saint-Quentin
(Aisne).
He very graciously made these and other photos of the
crash site, available in order to participate in
the commemoration of the selfless ultimate
sacrifice made by these young Canadian and British airmen.
Monsieur Leprêtre's photos
were brought to the attention of Pilon International by the kindness of
Peter W. Cunliffe of the UK who wrote a book on the Pilzen Raid: A Shaky Do, The Skoday works raid 16/17th April 1943 (2007).
Ms Sarah _, niece of Sgt Irving MacDonald visited the crash site in 2024 and took the bottom picture where we can see the hill where the crew of BB-343 perished and the memorial erected in their memory.
