Blurb

From Rio to Regina, and from Maine to Manitoba, the stout hearted - if perchance thick-headed members of Course 39, No.4 Air Observer School, Crumlin, Ontario.  This in brief is their story, told by themselves, to serve as a reminder of days made up partly of hard work, partly of good belly laughs and flavoured throughout with the seasoning of good fellowship, a living proof that in a world gone made there is still a lot worth saving.

It would not be fitting to have our little volume go to press without a word of thanks to a man officially designated as an instructor, and unofficially dubbed a "good egg" - P/O Knowles - who will be "Joe D.R." to us for a long time to come.  And in the annals of Course 39 there is a spot for that best of flight sergeants - who "E-Lup right" will long ring in memory's hall - Flight Sergeant Huestis.  To these two and to others too numerous to mention, Course 39 extends its thanks and these words of appreciation.

These are the words chosen by the young aviators themselves to remember their time together and to face their uncertain futures.
They have been reproduced without any editing; only the format has changed.
I am extremely thankful to Madame Marcelle Pilon, sister-in-law of François Rolland Pilon,
for so graciously permitting this wonderful book of memories to be reproduced and shared over the internet.
